Collection, Processing and storage of Data
You can use our website without any personally-identifiable information being collected by us.
The collection of personally-identifiable data is required to make and execute contracts, open a customer account, send newsletters, or to make contact with visitBerlin, or the organising agency pcma. This data will be used solely for the purposes mentioned above unless we receive your express consent otherwise. The data will be used only to the extent necessary for the specific purpose, such as making, executing and invoicing of contracts.
We store your data on specially protected servers in Germany. Access to said servers is restricted to authorised persons who have access to those areas necessary for the activity as part of their technical, commercial or editorial management of the data.
We take precautions to ensure the safety of your personal data. Your data is conscientiously protected by us from loss, destruction, falsification, manipulation and unauthorised access or unauthorised disclosure.
The data collected in accordance with the preceding sections is kept as long as is necessary for the provision of our services or as required by statutory retention periods. No further storage of your data will take place. Once said purpose has been fulfilled, your data will be stored in compliance with tax and trade law requirements.
Detailed information on the nature and extent of the data collected can be obtained from the registration form on the website. Your information will be disclosed as necessary to third parties such as service providers/suppliers associated with the Meet Professionals Days event such as the hotel or other event organisers. The respective service providers/organisers will use your data only to provide the service, organise the event and/or prepare the workshop schedule and not for other, non-event-related purposes. If you should nevertheless give separate consent to the transmission of advertising or newsletters by the organisers and/or third parties (e.g. the providers of Meeting Place Berlin 2017), these will also be entitled to send you information or newsletters after the event.
It is your decision whether you transmit personal information in order to use the services offered. However, the data is required if you wish to obtain access to any information or services on the portal(s) that are fee-based or that require registration.
All of our employees are required to keep your data confidential in accordance with §5 BDSG. We also do everything possible to ensure stringent compliance of our computer systems and applications with current data protection requirements.
A log file is created with every visit to our sites and every time a file is accessed. We are not able to assign this data to any specific visitor/user. We do not merge or compare these data with other data sources; the anonymised data is deleted after being used for statistical evaluation. Each record consists of:
- the site from which the file was requested,
- the name of the file,
- the date and time of the request,
- the amount of data transferred,
- the access status (file transferred, file not found, etc.),
- a description of the type of browser used,
- the IP address.
Every visit to our sites and each time a file is accessed, IP addresses are also automatically recorded and stored in a log file on the server. Under certain circumstances, IP addresses can be traced back to the specific user. Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH nonetheless does not undertake analyses to achieve this end nor does it use such data for its own promotional purposes nor does it keep such data for the use of third parties.
Personally-identifiable data will be SSL encrypted according to the current security standard prior to being transmitted online. We secure our website and other systems through technical and organizational measures, such as firewall systems, multi-level access barriers, etc., against loss, destruction, access, modification or distribution of your data by unauthorised persons to protect you as much as possible from misuse of your data.
You will receive our newsletter only you have explicitly confirmed that we should enable this feature for you. This is done by the so-called double opt-in method. Before we send you your first newsletter, we will send you a confirmation email in which you will be once again asked if you wish to receive our newsletter. If you confirm the link provided, we will send you our newsletter. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the "Unsubscribe" link found at the bottom of every newsletter. You can send an email or letter by post to the contract addresses given under "Information on Customers' Rights and Contact Persons". Your email address as well any data collected about user behaviour will then no longer be used for newsletters.
All cookies used by us are made completely anonymous and contain no personal information about you.

Information about the data we have stored about you, withdrawal of consent for use of your data
You can always get information about or view the data we have stored about you. If the data is incorrect, you can request that it be corrected. If you do not agree with the storage of your data, you may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect by written request sent by post or email. If you revoke your consent, your data will be deleted accordingly. This does not apply to data which must be retained according to statute or other contractual obligations. This does not apply to such data as are required to establish, perform and invoice contracts related to transactions or which must be stored for billing purposes. Requests for information, blocking, deletion and correction of your data or revocation of a consent previously given must be sent to the contact address listed at the end of this page (see "Information on Customer Rights and Contacts").
If you have given your consent for third-parties cooperating with Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH to use your data for purposes that go beyond this specific contract, these same rights apply mutatis mutandis. We will pass on your request immediately to the business or advertising partner. In all other instances, your personally-identifiable data will not be disclosed to third parties except in those exceptional cases where we are required to do so by law or appropriate judicial or administrative order.
